I also absolutely love how we are given one-on-one sessions, improving our listening as well as speaking skills. This one-on-one session that Ive had with overseas peers helped me with real life situations of speaking, as well. Not just online.

" Since English is my second language, sometimes it is very difficult to communicate fluently, but because I am used to talking to my overseas peers, I am used to speaking more fluently and spontaneously because we study together and i think studying together is the best way to learn English. Everyone is also so cool and nice so i love my time that I spent for getting to know all of them and their country.

" I am loving every seconds of the lessons!, maybe it is a bit hard in the beginning because of the lack of skills we have to understand each other, but it improves as the times goes by. I think the part when we got lost in translation is the best part! sounds confusing, but I love the part when we both tried our best to make each of us gets the same point we want to share. We try to make gestures with our hands, noises, or anything and surely that is the funniest part of the class I won't forget.

Grade 9 · Japan (Tokyo)
English level: about CEFR B1
" The Indonesian students speak English so well, and they really try to listen to me — I’m very grateful. We’re the same age, but what we work on, what we’re interested in and what we enjoy are completely different. It’s fun to find the things we have in common, too.

About AirPangaea

AirPangaea has been connecting junior and senior high school students across Asia for more than five years. Our online programs — the TOMODACHI intercultural exchange and the MOTTAINAI SDGs collaborative learning program — are used by schools in Japan as part of their international education.

More than 3,000 students have taken part, and about 95% rated their experience “satisfied” or “very satisfied.”

One of our co-founders is Indonesian, and we have especially close ties with Indonesia, including a partnership with an association of Japanese-language teachers in Greater Jakarta.

TOMODACHI English grew out of these programs. It gives students a real reason to use English every week — and real friends to use it with.
